Geneuille paper factory
Life in the Geneuille village has been bound to the paper factory since the end of the 19th century. It was built on the Ognon river in replacement of a mill which was here since the 14th century.

In 1834, the Outhenin-Chalandre family, known to own an other paper factory in Besançon, built this paper mill with a first paper machine. The second one is added in 1836. Before a fire in 1842, 135 workers product annually 300 tons of paper ; the third paper machine is set in 1851 and the production jumps to 1300 tons a year in 1873. It was the most important paper factory in this region of France.

In 1930, the Outhenin-Chalandre society merges with the Grenoble Papeteries de France society. It has difficulties in the 60's due to the scandinavian concurrency and the Geneuille paper factory is definitely shut down in august 1969.
